Who This Course Is For:

This course is ideal for:

  • Security personnel requiring advanced medical training (including SIA licence compliance)

  • Anyone beginning a career in prehospital emergency care

No prior medical experience is necessary, but learners must be at least 17 years old and physically capable of performing CPR and other practical skills.

What You’ll Learn – Course Breakdown:

The FREC-3 course equips learners with essential knowledge and practical skills, including:

  • Patient assessment and primary survey

  • Airway management and use of oxygen

  • Basic life support and CPR (adult, child, and infant)

  • Managing catastrophic bleeding and trauma

  • Medical emergencies (e.g. cardiac arrest, stroke, diabetes, anaphylaxis)

  • Use of AEDs, medical gases, and patient monitoring equipment

  • Immobilisation and manual handling techniques

Course Format
  • Duration: Typically 5 days (classroom-based with practical assessments)

  • Assessment: Ongoing practical evaluations and multiple-choice exams

  • Certification: Qualsafe Awards Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (RQF)

  • Validity: Certificate valid for 3 years, with options to progress to FREC-4

 

Initial Response & Scene Management

Scene safety and dynamic risk assessment Primary and secondary patient surveys Manual handling of casualties Managing incidents and triage in multi-casualty situations Effective handover and casualty reporting

Life-Saving Interventions

Basic and advanced airway management (including suction and airway adjuncts) Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillator (AED) use Oxygen administration and monitoring Catastrophic bleeding control (tourniquets and haemostatic dressings)

Trauma & Injury Management

Spinal, head, and neck injury management Fractures, dislocations, and soft tissue injuries Burns and scalds Shock recognition and management

Medical Emergencies

Heart attack and cardiac conditions Stroke (CVA) Asthma and breathing difficulties Anaphylaxis and allergic reactions Seizures and epilepsy Diabetes and blood sugar emergencies
