The First Responder On Scene (FROS) Level 3 course is an intensive, hands-on qualification designed for individuals who may be first to arrive at the scene of a medical emergency. Over several days, you’ll learn how to manage life-threatening situations with confidence—before ambulance crews arrive.
This course goes beyond standard first aid, covering advanced techniques such as airway adjuncts, oxygen administration, trauma and bleed control, and a range of medical emergencies including cardiac arrest, stroke, asthma, and anaphylaxis. Through realistic scenarios and expert-led instruction, you’ll develop the critical thinking, practical skills, and confidence to take decisive action under pressure.

Core skills & learning outcomes:
You’ll learn how to:
Ensure scene safety and use PPE
Conduct primary and secondary patient assessments
Perform basic life support (CPR) and use an AED
Manage airways with adjuncts (OPAs, NPAs) and oxygen therapy
Control catastrophic bleeding (tourniquets, haemostatic dressings)
Treat trauma: fractures, burns, spinal injuries, chest trauma, wounds
Respond to medical emergencies: heart attacks, stroke, asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes, seizures
Assist casualty during environmental exposure and poisoning incidents
Practical Scenario-Based Training:
Realistic, hands-on scenarios to test skills in high-pressure environments
Working effectively with other emergency services
Who is FROS for:
Community First Responders dispatched by ambulance services
Co-responders in partnership with ambulance teams (e.g. police, fire)
High-risk workplace responders (security, offshore, events, etc.)
