Description

Essential skills for adventure and expedition leaders

In the field, leaders are not just responsible for safety and logistics — they’re often a lifeline for emotional wellbeing. This course equips expedition and adventure leaders with the tools and understanding to support mental health in remote environments, where professional help may not be readily available.

Our MD Dave, developed this course after leading over 25 World wide expeditions mainly with young people, 15 years of dealing with mental health issues in Lowland Rescue. Dave realised that while a normal mental health course is good, a lot of the skills don’t help while in a jungle or on a mountain “Further from the normal help”. Changing mind sets in the moment, how do you start that conversation and being that approachable person is all part of what an outdoor leader need to know and be.

Developed from the real-world experience — with decades of leading expeditions across the globe — this training offers practical insight into supporting individuals who may be struggling, while maintaining team cohesion and personal confidence in challenging settings.
